Jay is an educator, counselor, and community advocate originally from Southern California. He graduated from Emory University in 2008 with a degree in Philosophy and as a member of the Phi Sigma Tau Honors Society. He served as the president of the Black Student Alliance. Since moving to Oakland in the fall of the same year, he has dedicated himself to working for the betterment of Bay Area youth and the environment. Jay most recently worked as an Employment Specialist with PUEBLO’s Highway to Work youth internship program, a program coordinator of Oakland Youth Policy Builders, and Case Manager for the Balancing Inner and Outer program. Jay is passionate about deep democracy, solidarity economics, climate justice, and equal rights for all.
