Report on Restorative Justice Survey

In the summer of 2013, PUEBLO engaged community members in designing a survey instrument which we would use to investigate how many Oakland residents were familiar with the term ‘restorative justice’ and what their attitudes and/or experiences with it were. We were curious about whether responses would be significantly different depending on the geographical area of Oakland they lived in, whether or not they had been a victim of crime, their gender and/or ethnic background.

This report summarizes the findings and indicates a strong preference on the part of the respondents to utilizing community-based justice practices rather than incarceration for juvenile offenders.
