Urban Youth Harvest Staff took almost 100 photos of the students engaged in activities ranging from fixing bikes, to riding bikes, to harvesting fresh fruit, to landscaping and learning how to start their own business. They were honored by a graduation picnic where they did a good bit of the barbecuing at Poplar Park.
Oakland Food Policy Council Kick Off
The Oakland Food Policy Council kicked off its formation at the James Irvine Foundation Center Monday, March 23rd. The Oakland Food Policy Council has been founded to promote an equitable and sustainable food system in Oakland. Alethea Harper, the Coordinator of the Oakland Food Policy Council presented her overview of the mission of this new body. PUEBLO was one of the co-sponsors of the event and will be participating in the formation and functioning of the OFPC, along with its other partners including, Food First, the HOPE collaborative, the City of Oakland, Alameda County Public Health Department, Public Health Law & Policy, City Slicker Farms, People's Grocery, and Physicians for Socia
