BAAQMD Community Hearing for the Clean Air Plan
Jubilee West Community Center 1485 Chester
Street @8th St
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District-BAAQMD (the folks who regulate
air pollution) is hosting a community meeting to get input from us on what
should go into their Clean Air Plan for 2003/2004. This meeting is happening
because an ally organization of ours- Communities for a Better Environment)
sued the BAAQMD for not following the law by not having a process in which
the public could be involved. This meeting will be important for us as a way
to get information about the BAAQMD and their policies as well as network with
other community members who are concerned about air quality issues. In other
words, we need to be there!

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Justice Committee
meeting
This is going to be a historical moment for the environmental justice movement
in California and nationwide. The California Environmental Protection Agency
will meet and vote on recommendations for how to achieve environmental justice
in California. What they vote on will have an impact on all public and governmental
agencies in the state. They are considering adopting many stringent guidelines
for protecting the health of communities like ours. Come and join your voices
with hundreds of other community people to make sure that the EPA prioritizes
achieving health for our communities in the true spirit of environmental justice.
